Good news for aspiring snow birds and Pitbull fans: A new Amtrak route stretching from Chicago to Miami will debut this fall.

The limited time route called The Floridian, which combines Amtrak’s Capitol Limited and Silver Star lines, will begin service November 10. The train will run between Chicago and Miami, with stops in cities like DC, Raleigh, and Jacksonville (to name a few), and the train will get you from point A to point B in about 47 hours.

Ticket options span a few different categories, from relatively basic to more upscale, like the sleeper car trains gaining renewed popularity around the globe. Choose a coach-class ticket to get a wide, reclining seat with ample leg room for your journey.

If you’re willing to shell out a bit more, you can get a first class ticket with access to a roomette or bedroom. The roomette features two reclining seats that can become upper and lower beds for sleeping. A bedroom will get you an in-room restroom and private shower as well. The experience doesn’t start and end on the train for those private room passengers, they’ll also receive complimentary lounge access at major train stations. Private rooms begin at around $1,300 for a one-way roomette ticket. First Class and private room travelers will also have complimentary access to the dining car on board.

This new way to travel is part of Amtrak’s latest push to expand overnight train options. While we may never fully channel the glamorous train travel of yesteryear, improving train service across the country is getting us a tiny bit closer to competing with Europe’s expansive train system.
