Try 14 days freeHello, and welcome to lesson 9 of mindful eating. Today, we're going to be talking about savoring our food. We know from previous lessons that in order to eat mindfully, we need to tune into all of our senses, practice chewing slowly, and eat without distractions. But to truly savor our food, to enjoy it completely, we need to add one more ingredient, gratitude. Gratitude is a state of appreciation that makes us more present, open, and connected to the world around us and it is essential to savoring our food. We can practice gratitude by being fully appreciative of what we're eating. You can begin to think about where your food came from, the journey it went on to arrive at your plate, the people who brought it to you, and the nutrients it's bringing to your body, and extend that gratitude beyond the plate to where you're eating and who you may be eating with. As you sit down to your next meal set the intention to be fully present, pause and notice how many things you can be grateful for. Pay attention to how this sense of appreciation pulls you into the present moment and enhances your enjoyment of the meal in front of you....
