Try 14 days freeHi, and welcome to this run with Headspace. This is a 20 minute run. If you haven't already started running, you can start running. Now I'm here with coach Bennett again today. So for those of you not familiar with coach Bennett, he's the global head coach of running at Nike and is always an amazing companion to have on a run. And for those of us not so familiar with running to get confused by all the information out there, my hope today is that as we go for this run coach is gonna break it all down to simplify everything and make sure that we're not only getting the most out of the run that we can, but they're also seeing some progression that we're starting to enjoy it more. Coach, as we start off today sort of what would be your device? Well, the most important part of the run is the part of the run that you're running and we're running the start here. So our goal here is a simple one. It's just begin the right way. And since the right way to start a run is to run comfortable and run relaxed and run without strain or stress, I'm just hoping that that takes some of the pressure off that can be associated with starting a run. In fact, you should feel like the start of the run has relieved any pressure that you may have built up inside of yourself over the course of the day. The start of the run is your opportunity to really just decompress. You're in control. You're in control of the effort here and I know this may be getting redundant for those of you that have started a run with us before. But again, so much of coaching and teaching is about repetition and the strengthening of good habits. So I'll just say it again. The start of a run is your opportunity to ease into the movement of running. The effort that running demands and the shift that you're making from not running to running. So we're already a few minutes in and coach, we've worked a lot together. I've heard you talk to so many athletes about the importance of the start of a run. Can you just break that down a little bit more? Why is this, for those of us that struggle with starting a run in the right way why is this so important? Well, beginning a run is like an alarm clock going off for your body. And just like that alarm that goes off early in the morning, it's the same feeling. When that alarm goes off early in the morning, you don't wanna fly out of bed. You wanna allow your body the chance to wake up and wake up in a relaxed and comfortable state. If you can do that, then your day's gonna start better. And it's the same here with the run. If you ease into...
