Breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth. We're putting everything else aside for a moment. Breathing in, taking in fresh air, feeling the lungs expand. And as you breathe out, just feeling the body soften, just a sense of letting go of the discomfort or stress or tension in the body or the mind. Just repeating that a couple of times. Breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth. The next out breath, just gently closing the eyes, feeling the weight of the body press down, allowing thoughts, feelings to come and go and allowing the breath to return to its natural rhythm. And just slowly becoming more aware that breath noticing if the breaths are fast, slow. Can place your hand on your stomach if you find it easier. but paying special attention to the out breath, still aware of the in breath but following the out-breath from the very beginning to the very end as the body breathes out, just that sense of at least momentarily letting go any tension, any busy-ness in the mind. Just resting the mind on the breath. Staying with that out-breath, sense of letting go. Noticing how the breath begins to steady. Perhaps the mind begins to feel a little different and then when you're ready, just opening the eyes again....
