Try 14 days freeHey Headspace. It's Raheem here, checking in. I got into meditation purely because I wanted to try something new. Hi, I'm Dora and I'm a meditation teacher here at Headspace. I recently spent some time with Raheem Sterling a footballer at the top of his game. He plays for one of the biggest clubs in the world and the English national team. He's won the Premier League, the FA cup and scored over a hundred goals in his professional career. I'd say he knows a thing or two about the benefits of having power of mind. So I dropped in with him to chat about football life and how he looks after his mind. Honestly, this was literally, I really wanted to take time for myself. As I said, there's a lot within my career that you achieve this and it's onto the next and it's, Yeah. Everything's onto the next you get a setback it's onto to the next but I just felt like I needed to take some time for myself and actually connecting with myself and and actually see how I feel and what the meditation could really do for me. And, you know, since I have started doing it, I think you definitely feel the benefits of, you know just that simple, Yeah. Connection with the brave. I think what a lot of people don't realize with meditation is that you're doing something that you've never done before. So you kind of said like, you know, you win something or you do something and it's like on to the next. And I think in our everyday lives, it's a similar thing. Maybe you wake up, go to work, eat, sleep, and repeat and do the same things over and over again. And what meditation is doing, it's allowing you to come back to the present moment and to take a moment just to pause and like check in, like, how's my body feeling, what's going on? So when we close our eyes and we notice like there's a thousand thoughts that are going through our minds it's uncomfortable you know. I think a lot of us avoid or try to escape that real reality that our minds are busier than what we would like them to be. So it definitely is stepping out of your comfort zone but when you stick with it for a while, you start to see the benefits That can really feel the, the benefits even in a sense where it's a tournament, as you said there's a lot going on. There's a lot of he say, there's a lot of, should he start? There's a lot of, Yeah. is he gonna score? There's just a lot going on and. Yeah. I brought myself to a place where that's happening, this is happening, but the only thing I can control is being there on that pitch at that time. Yeah. And, and gave him a hundred percent and being present at the...
