Try 14 days free[Standing Strong Spirit] What does healing mean to me? Reaching inside, finding myself, and accepting me. (speaking in Mohawk) My name is Standing Strong Spirit. I'm a Mohawk from Six Nations. Noojimo is an Indigenous-owned virtual mental health services clinic. It facilitates access for Indigenous people to receive culturally appropriate mental wellness services from an Indigenous care provider. Our teachings, our ceremonies were outlawed, and now we are standing together with other kind people; communicating, being honest, and sharing, and in doing so, wellness comes. (singing in Mohawk) It's needed because we are included in ourselves. We're included in our care, so when we include our own knowledge and how we perceive mental wellness, then we can open our identity and culture for care identity as treatment as part of what we do. In this collection, people may find an Indigenous perspective to calming yourself, finding a way of being kind to yourself through cultural understanding, maybe being kind to yourself for not understanding yet and still wanting to step forward to it. If you are kind to yourself, you will rest better, live better, be happier. How could you not? You're living inside that mind. You're living inside that heart. And I think what Noojimo has done is taken the word no and turned it into K-N-O-W, know. Know what you're doing. Know what you need to change. Know what you don't know, as if you could admit you don't know how to help us, and if you can do that, you can be led. And if you're being led, we're walking side by side, and when we walk side by side, wellness comes. Headspace is just trying to make people well. Noojimo's trying to make people well; it's a natural fit. ♪ Whoo ♪...
