(gentle music) Headspace Studio. (gentle music) Hi. Welcome to "Sunday Scaries." I'm Dora. So I recently had a conversation that sort of blew my mind. I was chatting with friends about this show and the Sunday scaries and drum roll, please. They had no idea what I was talking about when I explained to them what the Sunday scaries were, I got blank looks. None of my friends could relate to the topic and none of them had ever experienced "Sunday Scaries." They are rare, unicorn, amazing, positive people. Now, obviously I was surprised. I needed to know more. What were their secrets? How is it that they had never experienced the Sunday scaries before? So I asked them for their advice, and here's what they said. First, do the things you love and interpret this however it makes sense to you. It could be working a job you love or just remembering to go on a hike, writing in your journal or cooking a big Sunday dinner. My friends know what they like and they make time to do it. They're also big supporters of reframing your thoughts and perspectives towards the positive and being around other positive people, reminding themselves to be grateful for each and every moment, no matter how that moment arrives. If you don't have access to positive people in your life, a way to begin to cultivate gratitude is going inwards and asking yourself simple questions like what am I grateful for today? And what can I choose to appreciate in this moment? Some days our proximity to gratitude may be further than others. Yet when we slow down and realize how incredible it is for us to be here in this moment there's a lot we can be grateful for. And I'm not saying that you need to pretend like everything is wonderful when there's legit problems in your life. It just means you're reorienting yourself to also see the good too and are choosing to think about that even if it's just for the length of a deep breath. Remember, the more we practice gratitude the easier it will be to feel grateful. Think of it as building a gratitude muscle. And this is all great advice which is why I wanted to share it with you. But this whole situation sparked another thought, a thought I'd never had before. Yes, there are clearly people who don't get the Sunday scaries. I mean, sometimes that's simply because they don't know the phrase Sunday scaries. Like they get anxiety on Sundays but they just don't have the language for it. So what about the people who don't experience Sunday scaries or experience Sunday scaries part of the time but maybe not all the time. I mean, this whole show is about alleviating the Sunday scaries, helping you move past your anxieties, like spiraling thoughts or preoccupation with what's coming up next week. And what if listening has actually worked? I mean, I hope...
