Try 14 days freeHey, Rosie, check your back pocket. My role at work requires me to constantly make a ton of decisions. How can I use mindfulness techniques to reduce decision fatigue and approach each decision intentionally? This is going to be good. Let's get into it. This is such a big one for me too. Sometimes deciding what to order from a dinner menu is like a herculean task. What about trying to decide what show to watch? Forget. About it. I just can't. So here are a couple of ideas to help dependable rituals. Having some rituals or habits that never change can lessen the overall number of decisions you make on any given day and save energy for the big ones. For example, wear the same outfit every Monday. Trust me, no one will notice. This is one of my favorite things to do, Lindsay, by the way. Me too. Block your calendar time in advance for regular tasks like writing your newsletter content. Have the same thing for breakfast or lunch every day. Mine oatmeal with berries for breakfast and lentil and vegetable soup for lunch. Boring, but I get variety in other aspects of my life. Mantras. Another great mindfulness tool is mantras. When I get really overwhelmed, I have certain go-to phrases like, I can handle this. I get everything done. Progress, not perfection. Simple but effective. Finally, and this is huge, learn to say, no. No, no, no. No. If tasks or meetings or commitments never go on your calendar in the first place, you can't be overwhelmed by them later. Here's a good test when someone asks you to do something in the future, like meet for lunch or serve on a committee, or have a networking call. If you wouldn't want to do that thing tomorrow, you won't want to do it in the future. Say no now. Oh man, if you don't want to do it tomorrow, you won't want to do it in the future. Lynn, those are such brilliant tools. I have a few points to add, but all these are so good. What. You got, Rosie? Mindful delegation. Remember that you don't have to make all the decisions on your own trust in your team or support system and delegate when you can. This requires being mindful of your own limitations and recognizing when it's time to share the load. Mindful organization, organize your day mindfully. Try to handle complex tasks requiring more decision-making in the morning when your mind is fresh. Use afternoons for more routine tasks that require less intense concentration. Last one, daily meditation. Meditation breaks. Incorporate short meditation sessions into your day. These can help clear your mind and improve focus better preparing you for decision making. Such awesome advice. As always, Rosy. It can often feel counterintuitive when you have a lot of decisions to make to stop and meditate, essentially telling your brain not to make any decisions as desperate as you are to...
