Try 14 days freeHi, and welcome to this Run with Headspace. So, you've already done the hard part. You're here, you're running with us. So, remember to take it nice and easy to warm yourself up and we'll be guiding you the whole way. This is a 12-minute run. Obviously, at Headspace, we're passionate about looking after our mind. But we're also passionate about looking after our body. It's really important we take an holistic approach to health and we make sure that we're nurturing our body in just the same way as we do the mind. Today we're incredibly fortunate to have with us the Global Head of Running from Nike, Coach Bennett. He is the very best person we could have with us on a run today. He's gonna get us through this 12 minutes. So, Coach, as our runner gets started, have you got any words of advice for them? Yeah, well, first I just wanna say thank you to you, Andy, and thank you to the athlete with us today. Thanks for starting this. I love coaching, and because of you and because of the fact that you pressed start, I get to coach. So, thank you. So, now let's just start this run the right way, all right? And the right way to start this run, to start any run, is to run easy. In fact, if anything, I want you to feel like you're running too easy. We're already a few minutes in. Tell us, Coach, why running the right way is so important. Well, it's because you need to give your body and your mind some time to adjust from not running to running. And that's a big shift, and that demands some time. Your body right now may be wondering what you even have it doing. Am I just running to a meeting that I'm late for, or to the bus that just arrived, or the elevator door that's closing at the end of the hall? So, just be patient. Let your body ease into the activity of running. Let yourself ease into the motion. Running is a full-body experience and you're working pretty much everything that you've got. So, just be patient. I think that's a really interesting approach. I think most of us when we go out for a run, we wanna, we're so, we start with so much enthusiasm and so much motivation we go sort of sprinting out, and we normally then tire quite quickly or we don't enjoy it quite as much. I think it's often the same, actually with meditation. People will often sit down, go kinda, "Okay I'm gonna really meditate now!" rather than just allowing the process to unfold. So, I really like that idea of an effortless approach, really kind of easing into the run slowly. Keep up this light, gentle effort. You're doing great. Yeah, they're very similar. And most of us start our runs way too hard, and it takes real guts to actually...
